Our Prince Edward Island Beach Cottage
I know most people relax and unpack when they arrive at their vacation destination. Me? I distract my husband with unpacking and toddler-wrangling and run around taking pictures of our rental cottage. You know, before we (and all our toddler gear) clutter the space.

Now, people who have been to my house will tell you that I don’t love beach decor (even though we live less than a mile from the ocean), but you can bet your sand dollar that I love it when I’m on a beach vacation. Here is a quick tour around the sweet cottage that we rented for our week’s stay on Prince Edward Island.
The kitchen was perfectly outfitted with everything we needed, and how about that island?

The meat grinder was for decor purposes only. There was even a note making sure we knew that. You know, in case we wanted to do any meat grinding. (The sad thing is that someone must have tried the meat grinder if the owners left a note specifically about it!)
The dining area was just steps away and provided plenty of seating for the whole gang.

You’ll have to excuse my attempt at editing lighting in this picture of the living room. Prince Edward Island is one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time, so I was losing light quickly!

The bedrooms and bathrooms were downstairs where the light was even more scarce, but here you can check out the bedrooms.

The rooms had really nice sheets, which made vacation seem even more luxurious. It’s the little things, really.
And check out this beautiful cabinet-turned-vanity in the bathroom. I loved all the big, chunky wood pieces in this house.

And scattered throughout the house were pieces of artwork. I liked some of the paintings that showcased the local scenery.

The bedrooms had massive old maps in them, which I love, love, loved.

And the view outside wasn’t so bad. Those following me on Facebook and Instagram (@domesticadventure) saw that we had some lovely water views of the Southwest River that stems off the ocean in the small fishing village of New London. We also had a prime view of this super cool (and huge) bald eagle’s nest. We saw up to four different eagles at one time!

The cottage was the perfect spot for our much-needed getaway. We didn’t want to leave!
What was your favorite part? Me, I wanted to steal the kitchen island and stools…meat grinder and all!

I love it! You must give me the rental info! We haven’t been to PEI yet and I think I can make a convincing case for the trip with these pics. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, so pretty! I love cottage style. The kitchen and bathroom are particularly nice. Glad you had a great time!
Any info on the artist/painting you posted?
Sorry, Nancy! I don’t have any info on that painting!
“you can bet your sand dollar” – bahaha! Looks like it was a gorgeous place
Having Massive vacation envy right now. Other then a quick trip to florida, we only traveled for weddings and to see family this year. I would LOVE to visit King Edward’s Island someday! Too bad it’s REALLY far from DC.
What a gorgeous plae to stay. I’m drooling over that kitchen. Fabulous. And I want that island for my own.
