Tasty Tuesday: Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Brownies

Get ready for a little slice of heaven, my friends.  If you like chocolate and peanut butter, this post is for you.

Hannaford, our local grocery store, has this great recipe magazine called fresh that you can either buy for $2 or get for free with a $25 purchase.  Somehow I always manage to meet the $25 minimum, so I pick up the magazine as a fun little treat…especially when it has a fun little treat like these peanut butter brownies featured on the front.  Yes, please.

You can get the full recipe online, but of course you can count on me for the play-by-play.  A bonus on this recipe…no mixer required!

It starts as simply as melting some butter and stirring in peanut butter and sugars.

It ends up looking like a nice vat of peanut butter sauce.  (Not sure that nice and vat were meant to be in the same sentence?)

In a bowl, you combine eggs and vanilla, then stir in the peanut butter mixture.

Once it looks like caramel, mix in the flour and salt…

…and then the chocolate chunks and peanut butter chips.  Are you drooling?

Remind yourself that there are raw eggs in the batter and try not to eat all of it before spreading it in a foil-lined, greased 8×8″ pan.

Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees, cut up a small square and pour yourself a glass of milk to wash it all down.

Like I said, a little piece of heaven.

Apparently these freeze well, but we wouldn’t know.  Somehow we ate them all before getting to the freezing stage…

I LOVE no-mixer-required baking. And peanut butter. And chocolate. Together. I’m afraid I’d eat that whole pan though. Might have to take that risk.

mmmmmm, can’t wait to try this one. I used to have a Hannaford near my old house and I always picked up a copy of fresh as well. Thanks Erin.

Those look positively delightful. And an 8×8 pan of those would last two seconds in our house (and it’s just me and hubs) :)

The Mr. doesn’t eat chocolate (some kind of weirdo allergy), but he is obsessed with all thing peanut butter. I’m going to try substituting the chocolate chunks for almond bark and see what happens. It worked with Shannons Peanut Butter KandyKakes!

Heading to the kitchen now and turning my oven on! My mouth is watering and it’s only 10 am for me. Peanut butter and chocolate is the best combination. These won’t last long in my house. Thanks for another great recipe, Erin.

You are evil! These look divine. Maybe I’ll make them for Little Dude’s party this weekend, so then we won’t eat the whole batch ourselves!

  12. Ya know, I’ve always wondered at what point in cookie dough consumption do you reach the critical point at which you’ll get crazy sick if you happened to use a contaminated egg. It’s not two or three cookies worth, since I’ve been doing that weekly since I was 6. But I can’t help but wonder, am I tempting fate? It’s really a shame that I have absolutely no interest in BAKED baked goods, I just like dough and batter. Yeah, that’s tempting fate.

These were phenomenal. I sent the recipe to my sister and now it looks like I’ll be making a couple batches for her wedding reception in October :) Thanks for sharing!
