Get your guest on

Summer has officially arrived here in Maine.  And no, it’s not the warmer weather and sunshine that clued me in.  Instead, it’s our guest room schedule! This is our third summer here in Vacationland and just like in the two past summers, our guest room is going to get a workout.  Thank goodness it got a face lift at the end of last year’s season.

To be clear, we love having guests come and stay with us.  After all, we get to stay in the comfort of our own home AND visit with friends and family.  Plus, we love that we live in such a fun place that people want to come and vacation here.  Who wouldn’t want to come to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park and see views like this?

As we move on throughout the summer, I hope to share with you some of my tips and tricks for keeping the house ready for guests.  This will include things like how I keep track of what regular visitors like, how I stock the guest room and how we help guests feel at home (we hope!).

In the meantime, tell me all about your summer visitors.  Do you have any, or are you usually the visitor.  Hopefully you can share your tips and tricks along the way!

I’m looking forward to your tips! My sis-in-law and her hubby will be staying with us in mid-July, and my in-laws will be coming to visit their grandson at some point this summer, too. Right now our guest room is in shambles!

Okay, so now I just want to come to Maine. What a beautiful scene.

I HAVE AN IDEA. You can come to Illinois and stay with us and we can come to Maine and stay with you!

    Let me know. ;)

  3. That view looks so relaxing. Its no wonder you have so many guests!

I mostly have my sisters and boyfriends family staying at our house in the summer. Living in DC = lots of tourist sites and couch crashing.

We are going to have some guests in August and September for pre-wedding festivities. I hope no one is planning to stay with us in October! (Our wedding is Oct. 10) because I will most likely be running around like a mad woman!

We just had a baby (4 months ago), so we’re still entertaining friends and family who want to come and meet him! Our guest room is ready to go. I actually keep it clean and ready for use, door closed. That way, when guests are on the way, that is one less thing to think about!

I lived in Maine for years — love that picture. Enjoy the amazing summer!
