Spring Cleaning List
I make lists. Often. Just ask my family or my husband. I also make them at random times. For example, I just had to make a list of our spring cleaning tasks when I happened to notice our baseboards looking awfully grubby, while I was baking and checking my email…
Naturally, this meant that I made the list on a random envelope with a random red marker…the two closest things I could find. (Don’t ask why I didn’t just type it up!)
The list ended up being such a hodgepodge of things. It included everything from washing the curtains and baseboards to vacuuming the cars and getting rain gutters added to our house. The result was a nice mix of items that Chris and I can divvy up, with chores like power-washing the house and painting the deck heading his way.
Once I made my core list, I searched for checklists online to make sure I wasn’t missing anything crucial. Naturally, Martha had a beautiful checklist awaiting me, which you can find here.
I’m not sure when our cleaning extravaganza will begin, or if it will wrap up before summer comes, but we’re excited to open the windows and clean house!
Do you have spring cleaning plans? Or, are you really on top of things and have your spring cleaning completed?

I wonder how many people actually flip their mattresses. This activity always finds its way to my Spring and Fall lists, but is shunned. Similar to button replacement on my husband’s shirts!
I did a lot some Spring cleaning last weekend – deep cleaned two upstairs bathrooms and wiped down the wooden blinds. Most tedious!! I try to tackle a few projects every Saturday morning.

Ohhhhh, spring cleaning. How I loathe/love thee. Thanks for sharing Martha’s checklist. It might help me get going sooner. One thing at a time — I just finished out taxes the other day. Need to recover <3

First off, I am totally a random list person too…and I hate typing them up; there is just something about a hand written list! haha! And for me it even gets so bad that if I mess up or have to cross out due to a misspelling, I have even re-written the entire list! ahhhh! My OCD kicking in I guess!
Good Luck with all the cleaning, I have been teaming up with Husby as well to get some of this stuff done, like repainting the trim, cleaning all the baseboard, planting flowers, etc!
I love reading your blog!!

Kim, I hear you on the mattress thing; I’ll let you know if I actually flip it! As for the buttons on Chris’ shirts; those with missing buttons are reserved for fall/winter/spring workwear when he gets away with wearing them with a sweater, sweater vest or fleece vest. We’re good with work arounds chez Fogg!
Ashley, spring cleaning and I definitely have a love/hate relationship! You must feel so good having taxes done!
April, thanks so much for commenting; I love that you love reading! Also glad to hear that there is another list freak out there…we’re a special type, right?

I flip my mattress too
When I wash the sheets of course. And I have that Martha list! It’s one of those I’ve pulled out of her mag over the years.
Now I have to go make my own list….

I am a compulsive list maker as well. There’s something about writing it down- it helps me remember.
Good luck with your “to dos”!

Our mattress isn’t supposed to be flipped. Or my husband just tells me that so I stop bugging him.
I need to deep clean, really bad. But, I don’t know when I will. If there’s a rainy day, I’d like to believe that I may. It’s just too darn nice. My poor windows need a serious scrubbing….
I totally relate to you about the lists. I make lists of lists. They are all over. My husband makes fun of me, but it calms me.

I am a compulsive list-maker, too. Looks like there are a lot of us out there! They make me feel better. I love the idea of Martha’s list — but I’m scared to download it. I have a six week old baby and am lucky to get the dishwasher loaded/unloaded every day! Hmm. I’ll save the link for when I am feeling ambitious!
