Citrus Style
The bright lights and sparkles of the holidays have passed and things are looking a little dull around our house. It’s that in-between time of year when the perfect decor is not so obvious.
Lucky for me, inspiration hit when we received a case of fresh Florida citrus through a local fundraiser that we supported. Using some oranges, I refreshed our dining room table…
In addition to some sparkly faux fruit, you can see that made use of some pine cones that were left over from Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations. I also shopped around the house for this little green bud vase filled with some evergreen sprigs (which have been living on a window sill since I used them in our Thanksgiving centerpiece!) The more I thought about it, the evergreen and pine cones are ideal for the next few months because they quietly say winter without screaming Christmas.
If you’ve been reading for a few months, then you know that I like to keep our entryway table decorated (like here and here). And with the citrus theme in mind, a fresh bowl of grapefruit has found its way to the spot.
The bright oranges, yellows and pinks are like little rays of sunshine during these cold, gloomy winter months. Don’t you think? Oh, and as an added bonus, I am regularly reminded that I should increase my vitamin C intake!
What are you decorating with these days? Are you feeling the same seasonal lull that I am? Please share some inspiration because my citrus style is slowly disappearing one piece of fruit at a time!

Oooo! I love this look. I will definitely try this in our house. And I think I remember reading during the holiday on Young House Love that citrus isn’t exactly loved by cats. Awesome

This looks awesome Erin! All bright and cheery and whatnot! And I just got really excited abotu the comment above because if cats dno’t like citrus and I don’t like cats on my dining room table, guess who’s putting citrus on her dining room table? I’m off to ask the internet for more details!
