Merry Boughs
Ever since I got my first apartment back in 2004, my idea of door decorating has been rotating fall items and Christmas items in and out of this wreath.

It’s worked pretty well and has saved me some coin (those wreaths never go bad), but I decided to upgrade a little bit this year. Given all of the beautiful evergreens around us here in Maine, I went out and trimmed some boughs to make a new Christmas hanging for our front and side doors:

And here is how it all went down:

First I collected three different types of evergreen boughs. Once I arranged the layers to my liking, I bound them together with some floral wire (white was all I had). Next I took some wired ribbon and cut 7 inch pieces. Using floral pins (yeah, the pearly ones were all I could find), I bunched together the bottoms and pinned them onto the boughs. I added a few green and purple jingle bells and a few notions from Christmas wreaths past and tah-dah:

Now the festive sounds of bells welcome us home and the greenery smells great. What do you think of this project? I have been thinking that it needs a punch of color–maybe some ornaments? Any suggestions?
Here’s to having the first of the Christmas decorations out!

Erin………….you are just way too clever and creative. I cannot do anything like this and wouldn’t even attempt it. It looks absolutely fabulous and so festive.
Probably won’t be online over the weekend but may try and persuade hubby to put the tree up.
Have a great weekend way up there in Maine.
Beautiful! Love the bells, and I bet it smells great, too!
No, No color or ornaments. It is perfect. Of course, I love all things natural.
These are just so charming and fresh! I so enjoyed seeing them all.
This is beautiful! I’ve been debating about decorating a real wreath or re-using a fake one, and this is making me think about forgoing a wreath altogether. Now I wish I hadn’t thrown away the extra branch trimmings from our tree!
