Anthro Holiday Inspiration

I travel to Philadelphia pretty regularly for work and whenever I can, I sneak a quick break to visit Anthropologie.  We are not lucky enough to have a store in Maine (or even in the neighboring states), and while the catalogs and website generally keep me happy, there is nothing like meandering around the store on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia.

I am often most entertained and inspired by Antrho’s creative displays and decorations, so I was psyched when I walked in this evening to see holiday decorations all around and Christmas carols playing overhead.  So, I snapped a few inspiration photos with my phone.

First up are the tree branches hung about with dangling snow-covered ornaments at varying heights.  Very easy to replicate

The little evergreens that were spattered about the store were wrapped in cozy fabric bound by yarn.  How easy would it be to wrap some candle holders or potted plants to create a warm, wintery feel?

This next one I’m not so sure that I want to replicate.  These bold yellow extension cords were seen on several occasions, in this instance displaying adorable reindeer and owl hooks.  As far as I could see, they had no functionality in terms of providing electricty to anything, but they certainly were eye-catching.

And these little beauties were all over the store, inspiring a new project for me: knitted candle wraps.  Let’s be honest, I don’t seem to  have the patience for a whole sweater or blanket (hence the unfinished blanket in the closet), but I probably could handle a square or two, if I used really big needles.

Oh, and rumor has it that I picked up a little something that I’ve been eyeing for some time, but I’m really not quite sure how it ended back up in my hotel room!?!  It will help keep my dressing table organized…I promise…

Have you seen any good holiday inspiration out in the stores?  Do you like visiting Anthropologie as much as I do?  Anyone as deprived as me without one nearby?

Happy shopping!

I’ve only been to Anthro once. It’s sad actually. It was actually a bit overwhelming for me, but I’m really loving everything you displayed in the post. I esp. love the candleholders.

Erin, did you know you have purchased an egg tray? I use one in my frig. They are the best for storing eggs because they allow air to surround the egg. The plastic containers found in refrigerators are not a healthy way to store eggs.

I am sure it would also be a lovely dressing table organizer.

    Suzan,

Yes, yes, I do know what the egg tray should actually be used for…but could you imagine me actually taking eggs out of the store container and transferring them to a tray in my refrigerator? My patience for putting away groceries is zilch, so this extra step would nearly kill me.

I like that you use it for it’s actual purpose, though…maybe someday for me…

But in the meantime it will look cute filled with earrings, necklaces, etc.!

Actually, I was just thinking about what clever thing I could do for a new jewelry box. I hate what I have now, and I need an update. The egg crate is perfect to separate the little beauties, especially for things you wear regularly. I need a something with a lid or cover that will close. Maybe you can help me think of something interesting to house my “family jewels” (not really all that impressive, rest assured)
