Guest room makeover
One of my goals back during project week was to spruce up our guest bedroom. You see, when we moved into our house, most of the walls were still only primed. We temporarily used the current guest room as our bedroom for two years while we worked on finishing our new master upstairs, and we gave it very little love and attention. So to say a paint job was sorely needed would be an understatement.

So, project by project we took on the room and we are quite pleased with the end result.

New dressing table for the guest room
As you might recall, it took a few little projects to get to this point. First, and probably most noticeably, I gave the walls a sleek green cover and added stripes for the accent wall (achieved with step-by-step instructions and inspiration from Young House Love). Like most out-of-the-box projects, Chris was sure this one would fail. I proved him wrong, don’t you think?
The new paint job is certainly accented by those new Erin-made white curtains and blinds, the new bedside shelves/tables, the fresh pop of color from the new Erin-made pillow cover, and some cute accents like books, candles and the seashell planter. We removed the non-working TV and added a dressing table.
The table and chair had been sitting in our basement just waiting for use. I picked up the nice round mirror for a steal of $15 at Lowes. For a quick fix, I covered the tables with the green faux-silk curtains that were formerly hanging in the room. It is a little bit of green over-kill, so I will need to come up with a better long-term solution. The walls could use a little art, as well. All in good time…
So far we’ve been lucky enough to have several guests try out the new space. When my college friends Andi and Joy were here, they practically fought over the space, and when the in-laws were here last week, I noticed they seemed to enjoy having their own mirror and dressing table.
Ah, sweet, green success!
